As much as we'd like to, we can't guarantee that 20 skaters will sign up, pay ahead of time, and show up at the rink. However, we have found so far that everyone who pays ahead of time tends to show up. If you can sell the spots, those people will most likely be at your game.
Some people ask us if the game is cancelled if there are less than 20 skaters. This is really dependent on the organizer, but in our experience it's unlikely. That ice has already been paid for, so 20 skaters or not, it usually gets used.
Short answer is NO. As an organizer responsible for the difficult, mostly thankless, task of curating a great game of pickup, we're simply here to help you. You're in full control over who can attend your games. If you need our help finding new skaters to join your game, we're happy to help and we'll do our best to match skaters to your game.
No, there's no requirement that you start from game 1. In fact, only a small percentage of our regular weekly games started their first season with us from game 1, most start mid season. There's no reason to wait until next year, we can onboard new games right up until your last game of the season.
Short answer is no. We help people who purchase ice organize games, communicate with their players and collect their cash.
Longer answer, we do run some of our own public games but only in cities where we have a lot of interest and skaters registered already.
If you're getting less than 20 skaters, the ice is more expensive for everyone. If your ice cost $250 and you only have 15 guys show up, everyone should be paying about $17 for you to recoup your cost. But we've found most organizers still only charge their guys $15 and cover the losses themselves.
At 20Skaters we do everything we can to make sure you've got 20 people showing up to the rink. Now you can charge $15 a skater and not lose money!
Feel free to get in touch and we'll try to answer your question as quickly as possible!
Perfect! That's precisely what we'd suggest you do. We help our organizers collect more season fees by using our optional credit card processing to collect. We then work with you and your skaters to figure out who is actually attending each week. We then offer, and sell any available sub spots to the skaters on your substitute list. We're still inviting organizers in one by one, if you're interested, please fill out the organizer application form.
Yes. You're the one who's secured the ideal ice time for your group of skaters and we know you'll want to keep that booking. So you'll continue to handle the transactions, payments, and contracts to secure your ice time. We simply help you collect money and be reimbursed for the cash you've put up.
